Each year, Without A Trace reweaves and reknits hundreds of garments that were put away for safe keeping in off-season months. Don’t dismay; in almost all cases your moth damaged garment can be repaired. Here are some tips to deter moths from damaging your valued knits and fine clothing:
- Cedar lined chests and closets are good, but need to be restained with cedar oil every 2 years to be effective.
- Moths prefer to lay their eggs on soiled garments: dry-cleaned clothes in a dust free, clean closet is best.
- Constant light is another way to discourage moths. If possible have lights always on or at least on a timer.
